Jack's 1598 in Ulm

We were there on October 10th at 6.30pm, that in advance. First we walked around the restaurant to see what was on the menu, unfortunately without success. There is no hanging! So we decided to just go in, a young waitress came towards us at the door who greeted us and said in advance that it would take a little longer as there are only 2 people in the kitchen at the moment. No problem it was Saturday evening and we had time! She brought us to the table and there we sat first. After 15 minutes, she gave us the drinks menu. No menu came. There were 16 of us in the restaurant, a table of four for the rest of the couples. So it wasn't exactly busy. The waitress was looking for a wine because she couldn't find it and so the time passed until she came back to the table. (15min later) We ordered the drinks and asked about the menu, unfortunately the menu didn't come. At the opposite table went the first 2, 10 minutes later the next 2. So far still no menu or drinks. Somehow we felt like we were in the wrong movie 🎥. We felt sorry for the waitress and it seemed as if it was her first day today and didn't know how and what was going on. I would love to be up and help her! The next 2 people get up and leave. So after we have waited 45 minutes out of pity, we think about whether we should go again. After another 10 minutes that was too much for us and the table behind us. For next time (everyone gets a second chance with us) we hope that more staff will be deployed, especially on the weekend, and that we will finally be able to see the menu and be able to eat 3 🌟 for the service We were very sorry for her, she was friendly but totally overwhelmed!

The food was really delicious. The service was great too and couldn't be faulted.

After two hours of waiting at a half-full restaurant, our food was finally there. Ordered fillet medium, we received it in English, we explicitly mentioned intolerance to paprika when ordering, we received grilled vegetables with lots of paprika !!! As a result, you can't even pay a bill of almost 130 EUR with the card! Conclusion: catastrophic time management, overwhelmed service and a price level that does not correspond to the performance shown. Clearly no recommendation!

Definitely my favorite restaurant! EVERYTHING fits! When I was there for the first time, I was flashed. The service is great - the Malu is a person of the heart anyway .. we don't need to talk about the food .. very delicious. You feel extremely comfortable because everything is kept very clean. We went to dinner today with a Donau3fm voucher. The restaurant is the absolute shop .. We were 4 people in the restaurant at 7.30 p.m. The drinks. 2 wheat wheat and 2 quarters of wine + water came 3/4 hours later. The meal 4x hash browns came 1 1/2 hours. Later, first for the women without mushrooms (mushrooms were forgotten) for us men 2x rösties with paddy. 1x lukewarm and once cold. 3 other tables also complained tonight. Didn't have to pay my hash brown (neither would I). Instead of the boss herself she sends the cook. There is only cash, nothing with a card. In today's world (Corona) a joke. The service is friendly and helpful, but unfortunately can't help it. We go out to eat more often, but nothing like that has happened to us yet. For us it was the last time. For these prices, that's awesome. Price performance is not right at all. I just never say more.

Swiss cuisine in Gindele. Rösti, steaks and spare ribs at their finest at high prices. Very tasty and amazingly large portions. The service is friendly and hard-working, but there is still room for improvement. Definitely worth a visit.

a highlight for Ulm Three of us were there on Friday. The restaurant was very well attended - we should have made reservations better! If you come at the same time as a reservation, these will be brought forward ... but that didn't bother us, because we got our drinks after almost 10 minutes, we could also place the order immediately and after 15 minutes there was a wonderful greeting from the kitchen. Apparently there is usually such a greeting - really great! There was a dumpling with crab meat and vegetables on a sweet chilli sauce with pepper drops and a lemon foam - great! With good conversations and this small snack, the time flew by in a really beautiful atmosphere! When the starters were brought out, that was the first moment we knew it was going to be a good evening! Wonderful scallops on a tomato-apricot-fig salad with espresso sauce ... who has ever eaten something like that in a steakhouse - awesome! Likewise the Caesar salad with the parmesan bacon dressing, a stunner. The pumpkin soup with the three notes on the tongue - sweet to slightly hot to salty - was apparently just the thing in the weather and was spooned out quickly. The main course came about 20 minutes after the starters - with a full restaurant and fresh cuisine! I've already experienced completely different things - waiting times of up to an hour are not uncommon, but without a greeting from the kitchen ..... We all wanted more ... and that happened: the steaks are perfect - can recommend the Canadian with all my heart - very good price-performance ratio. I myself had a hash brown with a US beef fillet - absolutely great! The fillet melted in the mouth, the doneness was perfect and the vegetables were crunchy and not like always ... because each vegetable had its own arrangement: cauliflower with butter sauce, brocoli with a sweet and salty crunch and the carrots have a ginger-orange flavor tasted with a hint of curry. It is clear that not only the meat is considered here - the side dishes are also carefully treated. A compliment to the kitchen crew! How amazed I was when I heard that one person seemed to be doing it alone in the kitchen ... almost unbelievable! All three of us were extremely satisfied and we recommend making reservations in this location if possible. I am certain that in a short time you will not be able to find a place here without a reservation! A top location - we'll see you again!

Some nasty reviews here do not go so well with the good steaks 🥩 Obviously an envious person is involved. The current restaurant guide also says that "... style and skill raise the Ulm level ..." I can happily confirm that when it comes to steaks.

Unfortunately we are disappointed and expected a lot. There was only one waitress, she was super nice for the one star. We waited 30 minutes for our drink. 45 minutes on the starter and the main course only came after an hour. 3 of us had the yodel and for all three the meat was partly still raw. We had it returned and just wanted it to be fried again. After waiting 25 minutes, the plate came back completely refilled. But unfortunately the meat was then too dry. The kitchen fairy would then have to arrows at the cooking times. Normally you are in a restaurant for about 45-60 minutes. But we were there from 6pm to 8.30pm because everything took a long time. Of course we understand if there is only one service person. But when we came and had already waited 30 minutes for our drink, only 3 tables were occupied with us. So we can't quite understand it. We'll give the restaurant another chance later and then judge it again.

We had a very nice evening with a few small quirks at Jack's today. + Very nice places in the inner courtyard + Conscientious & friendly service + Varied menu + Short waiting times + Excellent meat quality, cooked to the point + Very tasty starters, dips and side dishes + Large portions + Great wine recommendation + Pleasant music - No drinks menu yet - No card payment yet - Contact information on the corona list can be viewed by everyone - Confusion with the starter, but solved easily - Rösti with a bit of spice for my taste, but very tasty with dip - No vegetable side dishes to choose from All in all, we enjoyed it a lot, and we'd love to come back!

I found the restaurant really great. I can't comment on the steak, but the spare ribs were great. The meat almost fell off the bone so it was tender and the BBQ sauce was delicious. All in all the food was really tasty and the owner went out of her way with the decor.

One is served by the kitchen help. Drinks last forever and after ordering the food (with an occupancy of 8 people) you still wait at least 1.5 hours for the food. Steak was ordered "medium" and served "through". For this high price it is not justified and unreasonable. There is also no drinks menu. Nobody could be reached by phone in advance. At this high price level, more is expected and there are better restaurants in Ulm. We won't be back.

The food was really good, BUT: I called three times without success during opening hours, nobody has to answer the phone. Reserving online is not possible. Upon arrival there were 8 guests in the restaurant. The waitress took an hour and three reminders to bring the music to a bearable volume. The food then came without the ordered and remembered dips. It's a shame, I think the chef really has it. However, what is missing is missing for the prices called up. Perhaps you see this review as an incentive, it would be nice if you were around longer.

The food was very tasty. The steak cooked to the point. The meat of excellent quality. The price is more than justified for what is offered. We were definitely not there for the last time, and we were served very friendly and attentive.

Unfortunately, claim and reality diverge here. At high prices, which can be justified with the exceptional meat quality (could not taste anything special), you are not able to keep to the cooking level requested by the customer and give the reason to roast a little shorter to emphasize the quality?! In addition completely excessive drink prices. The only bright spot was the courteous service employee. Unfortunately does not call for repetition, especially since the better competition is not far ..

Very very tasty Finally a steak restaurant that is impressive, in terms of taste and services I have rarely seen better. the menu is currently quite clear, but what is written on it is actually completely sufficient. From August 15th, the official opening, the right card will be available. Side dishes are also very good and there is a lot of dip selection. It's not cheap, but quality has its price. I will definitely come back here even if it's too expensive for every weekend For special occasions, however, absolutely great. A slightly more upscale but still cozy atmosphere, in which you can also spend a longer casual time. The location on the main street is not exactly nice, but inside it is not wild. Conclusion Everything was great, gladly again.
